Additions

This tea is already lightly sweetened with apples, but if you would like it sweeter, a little bit of honey would be a good option. Also, if you would like a little extra spice, you can increase the amount of ginger to taste.

How to Make Apple Spice Tea

To begin, peel and roughly chop the fresh ginger. Then cut the apple into wedges, leaving out the core and seeds.

Next, in a saucepan, pour in the apple wedges, cinnamon sticks, ginger, and water.

Then bring the water to a full boil on the stove and reduce the temperature to a simmer. Allow it to simmer for 20 minutes while occasionally stirring it. This length of boiling time really helps the flavors to open up.

Now remove the cinnamon sticks with a spoon. Use the spoon to gently press each apple wedge against the side of the saucepan, squeezing out any extra juice and discard them or have them as a boiled treat.

Finally, carefully strain the tea over the tea cups / mugs and serve!

Storage Notes and Tips

  • Store any leftover tea in the refrigerator in a sealed container. Use within 3 days for best results.
  • If more spice is desired, I recommend adding a little more fresh ginger to taste.
  • For extra sweetness, a little bit of honey would be a good option.
  • Doubling this recipe is a great option since it otherwise provides 2 servings.
  • The boiled apples are actually a good snack once cooled and they are still sweet!
