Ingredients

  • 1 medium or 2 small apples, sweet variety (Gala, Fuji, or Pink Lady are great options)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon fresh, peeled ginger
  • 3 cups water (712ml)

Instructions

  • First, peel and roughly chop the fresh ginger. Then cut the apple(s) into wedges, discarding the core and seeds.
  • In a saucepan, pour in the apple wedges, ginger, cinnamon sticks, and water. Heat it on high over the stove until it reaches a full boil, about 5-6 minutes.
  • Then reduce the heat to low and simmer it for 20 minutes, while occasionally stirring.
  • Use a spoon to scoop out the cinnamon sticks. Then use the spoon to gently press each apple wedge against the saucepan, squeezing out extra liquid. Discard the apples or have them as a treat once cool.
  • Finally, strain the tea into tea cups / mugs and serve.
